Doves

Doves é uma banda de indie rock de Manchester, formada no ano de 1998. A banda é composta pelos irmãos Jezz Williams (guitarra, vocais) e Andy Williams (bateria, vocais), Jimi Goodwin (baixo, vocais, guitarra) e Rebelski Martin Roman (teclados). Com mais de dez anos de existência e 4 álbuns, a banda ainda é pouco conhecida dentro do universo mainstream mundial. Lançado em 2000, o álbum de estréia do Doves, Lost Souls, superou as expectativas da crítica e de vendas (vendeu 160.000 unidades na Inglaterra e foi declarado "o primeiro grande álbum do milênio" pela NME), um disco melancólico e climático, repleto de excelentes canções, um absoluto clássico do início ao fim; Nos discos seguintes os Doves procedem uma interessantíssima abertura do seu universo musical eles investem na simplicidade e tornam a sua música mais expansiva e alegre, "nós estávamos determinados a mudar a percepção que as pessoas tinham de nosso trabalho. É muito fácil escrever música melancólica. Escrever sobre coisas positivas já é outra história" diz Jimi. Mesmo a crítica abrindo espaço e dando crédito a banda, eles continuam passando despecebido aos olhos do ''grande público'', (fato lamentável a meu ver). O quarto álbum da banda, Kingdom of Rust, foi lançado dia 6 de abril deste ano. O álbum trás onze canções que são descritas por Jezz Williams como: "esquizofrênicas, mas também estranhamente coesas" Vai entender... Nada de surpresas, bem... Doves. =)
