Sufjan Stevens

Sufjan Stevens (1 de julho de 1975) é um músico multi-instrumentista norte-americano nascido em Detroit, Michigan. O nome "Sufjan" tem origem persa e significa "vem com uma espada". Ele é considerado parte do ressurgimento do folk indie pop, mas suas influências são bem amplas. Sua música tem sido equiparada ao minimalismo de Steve Reich, mas claro, vai muito além disso. Stevens usa frequentemente em suas músicas temas espirituais, e muitas canções (Seven Swans por exemplo) é inspirada por histórias bíblicas, o que é raro no "mundo indie". Ele anunciou que pretende fazer um álbum para cada um dos 50 estados do EUA o que ele chama de "Fifty States Project", começando com Michigan (2003) e Illinoise (2005). Stevens é mais conhecido por seu álbum "Come on Feel the Illinoise", que atingiu o 1° lugar na Billboard Top e ainda foi considerado por vários críticos como o melhor álbum do ano.
