The Raconteurs

The Raconteurs, é uma banda de Rock Alternativo, formada em 2004 na cidade de Detroit, Michigan E.U.A. A banda é composta por Jack White: vocalista + guitarrista (The White Stripes), Brendan Benson: vocalista + guitarrista + tecladista, Jack Lawrence no baixo (The Greenhornes) e Patrick Keeler na bateria (The Greenhornes). O quarteto lançou seu primeiro disco, "Broken Boy Soldiers", em Maio de 2006, rapidamente a banda subiu para o top 10 Norte americano, e apareceu no top 3 no Reino Unido, com "Steady, As She Goes" (primeiro single da banda). O segundo álbum do The Raconteurs saiu na Primavera de 2008, o "Consolers Of The Lonely", como já era de se esperar alcançaram o top 5 com o single "Salute Your Solution" e ainda entraram com "Consolers Of The Lonely" na lista dos 50 melhores cds de 2008 da Rolling Stone.

Beirut

Beirut é uma banda formada em 2006 em Santa Fé (Novo México) por Zach Condon. Em 6 de Novembro de 2006, a etiqueta britânica 4AD lançou o primeiro disco de Beirut, este foi editado graças à colaboração de Jeremy Barnes (Neutral Milk Hotel) e Heather Trost (A Hawk and a Hacksaw). A banda é fortemente influenciada pela música Folk, trazendo assim instrumentos como violinos, violoncelos, órgãos, pianos, Ukeleles, tambores, Congas, clarinetes , bandolim, guitarra, trompetes e etc. Apesar da pouca idade (22 anos de idade) Zach foi capaz de encontrar novos mundos sonoros e transferi-los para a sua música; ele combina elementos /sons do folk com música do leste europeu. Em muito pouco tempo o Beirut conquistou espaço chocando a opinião pública e aos meios de comunicação - sobretudo de rádio - que deram pouca importância à banda. Pra ter ideia só a página da banda no Myspace teve mais de 100.000 visitas de blogueiros em semanas. A imprensa musical britânica elogiou muito o trabalho da banda a partir do álbum "Gulag Orkestar" traduzindo este trabalho como "Sublime misto de optimismo e de demissão...Um álbum maravilhosamente estranho e curioso". Zach Condon é geralmente acompanhado por Perrin Cloutier (violoncelo / acordeão), Paul Collins (órgão / teclados / pandeiro / ukulele), Jason Poranski (bandolim / ukulele), Kristin Ferebee (violino), Jon Natchez (sax barítono / bandolim / Glockenspiel), Nick petree (bateria / percussão) e Kelly Pratt (trompete / EUPHONIUM), mais a ajuda de Jeremy Barnes e Heather Trost. Após anunciar o cancelamento da turnê de verão na europa, Zach anunciou em Abril que estaria trabalhando no 3° álbum, este ainda sem data prevista. Esperamos ansiosos...

Patrick Park

Patrick Park nascido em Morrison, Colorado, conviveu em sua infância com a boa e velha cultura lírica, já que sua mãe era uma poetisa ativa que teve/tem algumas publicações na literatura norte-americana e seu pai amante das tradições do Blues e Folk que vivia a tocar pela casa, logo Park apaixonou-se pelo estilo e já escrevia músicas desde sua infância, “não havia mais nada que ele quisesse fazer”, compunha as letras e as mostrava ao seu pai. A Poesia de sua mãe o influenciou muito para as inspira-lo no qual “apreciava o poder das palavras e o seu bom uso”. Ainda no colégio começou a tocar em bandas e aos 13 anos já havia decidido que era apenas disso que ele queria viver. Não foi fácil começar sua carreira profissional, ao mudar-se para Nova York, mesmo com toda sua bagagem cultural, Park não decolou como gostaria que o fez mudar-se para Los Angeles e para se sustentar teve que trabalhar duro em outros empregos que variaram desde balconista de loja de roupas a professor de karatê. Em 2000, Park conseguiu lançar sua primeira demo, sendo essa gravada nos fundos de uma loja, já que sem dinheiro suficiente para pagar um estúdio teve que pegar emprestado vários equipamentos. Posteriormente teve um bom reconhecimento no cenário, inclusive depois de ter uma de suas músicas, “Life Is A Song”, como tema final do seriado da Fox “The O.C”. A música desse fabuloso músico possui letras ricas e nostálgicas e introduzindo o lirismo nas belas melodias do Folk. (Sugestão pelo nosso leitor Vini - valeu cara, boa sugestão).
